On Monday night, February 4th 2008, Pocono Mountain West's Scholastic Scrimmage team won the Mountain Valley Conference Championship!
To start the night #2PMW (8-4) needed to face #3East Stroudsburg South (7-5) in a semifinal match. The first round was close, with Pocono Mt taking a small 60-50 lead. PMW blew the match open in the 60 Second speed round scoring 120 points. ESS actually outscored PMW in the Stump the Experts round 50-40, however it would not be enough. PMW earned a place in the finals with a dominant 220-150 victory.
In the MVC Finals, the Pocono Mountain West "Giants" (9-4) faced off against the Stroudsburg "Patriots" (12-0). This is the first time in the history of the MVC that a team went undefeated in the regular season.
PMW came out of the box, dominating the first period, answering 9 of the 12 first round questions to take a commanding 90-10 lead. Teams were about even in the 60 Seconds round (PMW100 - STR90) but PMW only added to their lead in the Stump the Experts round, 45-10. PMW handed SRT their first defeat of the season 235-110 to win their second MVC title in school history!
